Let Freedom Ring 2018, a patriotic concert hosted by Outer Banks Presbyterian Music, is set for 5 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Outer Banks Presbyterian Church, 907 S. Croatan Hwy., Kill Devil Hills.
The event is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken. Nursery will be provided.
The concert features a 60-voice choir and a 17-piece orchestra, and narration by The Rev. Dr. Jody Moore. The theme is “I Believe in America.” Scout Troop No. 116 will present the colors, representing each of the U.S. Armed Forces. Additionally, active military and veterans will be honored with a special presentation. Guest conductor Kyle Cook returns for the third year to direct the choir and orchestra for the performance. Cook was the choral director at Currituck and Moyock Middle Schools for four years. He has been the conductor for the Outer Banks Chorus for the past three years. Guest solo vocalists include Jonathan Lowery and Pamela Tanner. The orchestra features Steve Blackstock, organ; Jason Evans, piano; David Hopson, drums; Reid Stockdill, timpani; Tim Briggs, Electric Bass Guitar; Leslie Erickson, Cindy Bryan, and Billy Tanner, violin; Sue Waters, viola; Suzanne Blackstock and Katie Blackstock Blanchard, flute; Christi Briggs, clarinet; Hannah Smicker, French horn; Andrew Smicker and Dylan Kruziki, trumpet; and Bradley Schaefer, trombone.
