The OBX Arts & Craft Festival is =from 10 am to 5 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, Sept. 6-7, at the Hilton Garden Inn, oceanfront, in Kitty Hawk

The event showcases a variety of creations from 25 Outer Banks artists whose specialties include painting, pottery, jewelry, photography, woodwork, glasswork, fiber and textile arts, collage, metalwork and more.

As is part of the tradition of the show, visitors can gather information about two local charities, N.E.S.T. and the Dare Literacy Council.

N.E.S.T. (Network for Endangered Sea Turtles) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of the habitats and migration routes of sea turtles and other marine animals on the Outer Banks.

The Dare Literacy Council (DLC) is an all-volunteer nonprofit that offers free tutoring services to adults who wish to learn to read, improve math and reading skills, learn English as a Second Language or get their GED. The organization trains volunteer tutors who work one-on-one or in a class situation to help adults needing literacy services. The council has two book sale fundraisers each year and will be accepting donations of new or used books (in good condition) at their booth.

Participating artists donate a portion of their entrance fees to help support N.E.S.T. and Dare Literacy Council.
