Michael Halminski

Details: Michael Halminski moved to Hatteras Island in 1973, and he has been photographing coastal life every since. A highly skilled photographer, his work reflects his passion for the area and intimate knowledge of the landscape, wildlife, and people of Hatteras. A nationally published photographer, Halminski’s studio is full of images of the local landscape and some of the adventures he has had along the way.

Pea Island Art Gallery

A replica of the 1874 Chicamacomico Rescue Station, this Salvo gallery features more than 100 regional and local artists. The gallery is packed full with everything from ceramics to painting to photography, and fiber arts. Stop buy to purchase a momemento or just admire the overflowing wildflowers around the building.

The Swell Art Gallery

For 17 years, this gallery was known as Indian Town Gallery. With a change of location came a new name. What didn’t change, though, is the huge selection of fine art, gifts, and jewelry. The studio also offers a variety of events including one on one time with local artists.

Seaworthy Gallery

This bright blue building is home to a collection of local art including functional pottery, hand blown glass, stainless steel sculptures. and, of course, jewelry. Art is available in all price ranges. Above the gallery are three rentable condos, each with a great sunset view.
