Marinated mahi mahi fish tacos

Fried or grilled fish, island slaw and pepperjack cheese in two soft tortillas served with black beans, seasoned rice, sour cream, pico de gallo and scallions.

I chose to have the mahi in my tacos grilled and the fish came out perfect — moist with a nicely marinated flavor that didn’t overwhelm the delicate fish. The spiced rice and black beans were a great accompaniment, and a few splashes of the house-made hot sauce gave them a nice kick. Definitely would order this again.

Avocado bacon cheeseburger

5.5 oz. pepper-jack cheeseburger garnished with avocado salsa, bacon, tomato and lettuce accompanied with waffle fries.

My wife Robin, usually not given to over enthusiasm, declared that the avocado bacon cheeseburger was the best burger she ever ate. The meat was perfectly cooked, juicy and slightly pink, and the avocado salsa was similar to a spicy guacamole. “I enjoyed it so much that I ate the whole thing,” she says, noting her usual inability to finish her food. The burger was so well dressed when it came out of the kitchen, she says it didn’t need any condiments.
