North Carolina Pulled Pork BBQ

This is how North Carolina barbecue is supposed to taste. All that was missing was its natural culinary companion: bluegrass music — something I could have enjoyed, had we opted to dine on a night when a free Pickin’ on the Porch concert was scheduled at nearby Magnolia Pavilion on Budleigh Street.

For the uninitiated, Lost Colony’s charon stout is a dry Irish stout with molasses caramel and toasted malt flavors. For me, this special ingredient made all the difference in the world, and it made for one tasty barbecue sandwich. — Donna Gable Hatch
