Crab Cake Sandwich

Jam packed lump crab meat cake sautéed to a golden brown. Served with creole mustard, lettuce and tomato on a toasted roll. ($13.75)

Crab plucked from the ocean? Hard to beat. Add preparation by a well-seasoned chef, who knows more than a thing or two about how to spice things up, and you have a winner. The whole meal was exceptional, and I can’t wait to journey back to Avon to try something else on the menu. — Ryan Hatch

Carolina Burger

½ pound Angus beef char-grilled to temperature topped with chili, coleslaw, mustard and American cheese on a toasted bun ($12.25)

It’s hard to explain to people why I don’t eat seafood, when I’m surrounded by some of the best seafood on the East Coast, but what can I say? I’m a carnivore. This Carolina burger totally hit the spot, and it was cooked to perfection (nothing worse than an under-cooked or over-cooked burger) and seasoned perfectly. Coleslaw is often a hit or miss for me, and Pangea’s slaw hit the bull’s eye on the taste target. — Donna Gable Hatch
