Peace of the Pie, the eagerly-awaited new restaurant in Kill Devil Hills, is set to open in early-January. Owners Fran and Lance Marler, Kwan Gray, and Kevin Cherry are looking forward to bringing a fresh new pizza parlor- style spot to the beach, offering tasty appetizers, several different fresh salads, and “legendary pizzas” with creative toppings like jerk chicken and smoked brisket. There will be healthy choices as well as some comfort food options for everyone.
Kwan and Kevin, owners of local favorite Mama Kwan’s restaurant, have known Fran and Lance since they were employees of their previous cantina-style restaurant, Mexi-Cali Brews in Kill Devil Hills. The idea for Peace of the Pie has been years in the making and the team is looking forward to reciprocating the community’s support for this new adventure with some truly delicious food.
Lance and Kwan will be the pizza chefs, working their magic with Peace of the Pie’s fresh hand-tossed dough, while Fran and Kevin take care of guests out front. If you don’t have time to dine in, swing by the drive-through window for pizza to-go.
The drive-through window was part of the building’s former life as a Pizza Hut, which opened in the milepost 9.5 space in 1974. It was one of the highest-grossing Pizza Huts in the nation. With an experienced team and delicious recipes in tow, Peace of the Pie is sure to carry on the success.
