Beach Biz: Bonzer Shack rocks the beach

From the tiki awnings outside to the classic longboard surfboards suspended from the ceiling, the vibe at Bonzer Shack Bar & Grill in Kill Devil Hills is all about the beach, baby.

Patrons can enjoy a great meal or specialty drink from Bonzer Shack’s inventive cocktail menu, listen to some live music, play cornhole, giant jenga, ring toss and other backyard games – even give hula-hooping a whirl – all in an atmosphere designed to provide a quintessential beach experience to those who stop by to grab a bite or wet their whistle.

Owner John Kirchmeir, a self-described “beach bum,” says his goal was to create a venue with outside space where people just want to have some laid back fun and make some good memories, and Bonzer Shack won’t disappoint.
