Tiki awnings, longboard surfboards suspended from the ceiling, an inventive and flavorful menu and live music rocking the courtyard, while people play cornhole, giant jenga, ring toss and other backyard games – that’s what awaits those who cruise over to Bonzer Shack on the beach road in Kill Devil Hills.
The atmosphere designed to provide a quintessential beach experience to those who stop by to grab a bite, imbibe in a refreshing cocktail or just watch some great Outer Banks musicians do their thing.
Chef Brett Owens most definitely knows his way around a kitchen – and he’s a genius at creating just the right menu to please both locals and visitors who are looking for a meal that hits just the right spot without dipping too deep into the pocket.
Appetizers on the lunch menu start at $3.99, sandwiches range from $7.99 to $10; and the dinner menu is equally affordable: appetizers from $4.99 and entrees start at $9.99.
Bonzer’s bartenders can set you up with pretty much any beer or wine you crave, or create a specialty cocktail, like its signature Bonzer Punch — Cruzan pineapple run, guava juice and OJ — or Shaka ’Pom Tea, which combines local Kill Devil Rum, a pomegranate-flavored liqueur, sweet tea, and classic orange bitters finished with North Carolina figs.
Bonzer Shack at milepost 9 on the beach road brings the summer fun, all summer long.
