Comic Andy Forrester returns to the stage at Comedy Club of the Outer Banks for a four-day appearance beginning Tuesday, Aug. 1.
Forrester got his start in 1999 as part of Comedy Sportz, an improve comedy troupe in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In 2008, he was named Ultimate Comic at the Idiot Box Comedy Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He followed that up with a 2013 win at the World Series of Comedy satellite in Louisville, Kentucky, and in 2015 competed in the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas.
Forrester has been on the lineup of Cape Fear Comedy Festival and the Laugh Your Asheville Off comedy festival, headlined at Goodnights Comedy Club in Raleigh, the Carolina Comedy Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Jokers Wild at Atlantis in Nassau, Bahamas, worked with myriad A-list comics and opened for headliners, such as Jimmie “JJ” Walker, Rob Schneider, Dave Coulier, Kevin Pollak, Greg Giraldo and Louis Anderson.
Forrester — who has been called “Big A” since middle school — is known as much for his self-deprecating, fun, easy going style as he is for his super-sized brand of comedy. The father of two little girls often culls material from his own life, including struggles with his weight, as fodder for his act: “I know what you’re thinking: ‘He looks like a personal trainer.’” Pause. “You’re right. I can personally train you to look just like this.”
