If you’d like to have an exciting fishing experience at Jennette’s Pier, sign up for our Family Fishing class offered weekends at 9 a.m. all summer. Everything you need to make memories for a lifetime is included, except for the fish!

While anglers try their luck on the pier, beach-goers flock to beaches around Jennette’s for sunbathing, swimming and wave riding. Our education department enjoys teaching kids how to surf in week-long adventure camps.

On Saturday, Aug. 11, Surfing for Autism returns to the south beach. These children, along with their parents, siblings and dozens of volunteers, unite for this special day of adventure and togetherness.

According to the nonprofit group, its mission is to offer individuals and families impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorder a supportive environment to connect and share by experiencing the therapeutic benefits of surfing.

In the days that follow, two surf contests are scheduled: the Oakley Surf Shop Challenge takes the beach on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 14-15, and then the Rip Curl Grom Search takes over Thursday and Friday, Aug. 16-17.

August wraps up with the WRV OBX Pro the last week of the month and rides right into Labor Day weekend. Last year, tropical storm waves made for some red hot surfing and fans were thrilled.
