The Dancing Turtle Coffee Shop, located at 58079 Highway 12, is across from the fishing harbor at Hatteras Village on Hatteras Island.

It’s a popular place with anglers heading out in search of adventure — and the evening’s meal — as well as locals heading off to work and visitors off to explore the island.

Inside, you will find gourmet coffee and tea, espresso, latte, macchiato, cappuccino, specialty drinks, fresh gourmet baked goods, homemade dog cookies, oatmeal, whole bean coffee, freshly ground coffee, ceramic mugs, dog products, clothing, drinkware, gifts and more.

The shop is owned by Evan Scall and Brian Scall, who share their life by the sea with their son Niyol, two rescue dogs, Jackson and Haddie.

When she’s not serving up yummy baked goods and piping fresh coffee, you can find Evan Scall at the Atlantic Ocean, either kiteboarding or training for a 5K, half-marathon or full marathon” She’s completed four full marathons, five half marathons, and has come in first place in many local 5Ks. In 2016, she qualified for the Boston Marathon.

Brian Scall was born to the sea. He grew up near Long Island Sound in Connecticut and spent summers sailing as a member of the picturesque Milford Yacht Club, honing his skill as a mariner. For 12 years, he raced competitively in regattas along the eastern. He fell in love with the Outer Banks — a draw for any mariner — on a kiteboarding trip with friends and was determined to call the island home. That dream was realized in 2010. Since arriving on the island, he’s earned his 100-ton master’s license, and in 2014 was hired as a captain with the crew at Captain Stowe Head Boats. The fleet includes the 75-foot Miss Hatteras and the 68-foot Cap’n Clam, state-of-the-art head boats available for charters, fishing trips and scenic cruises.
