Currituck Animal Shelter: Meet Cooper

Nine-year-old Cooper is waiting at the Currituck County Animal Shelter in Barco to be adopted. Senior animals make great companions.

Cooper, a 9-year-old beagle-mix, is the care of the Currituck County Animal Shelter, 140 Aviation Pkwy., in Barco. The Department of Animal Services and Control is responsible for operating the animal shelter, and its staff is responsible for protecting the rights of animals in the community to ensure proper care and accommodations are provided. The modern shelter is attended by a dedicated staff that handles adoption of pets, processes the release of picked up animals, educates the public on animal care, and provides a clean and healthy environment for the shelter’s pets. Volunteers from the community are always welcome to perform various tasks, including walking dogs, cleaning, feeding, and spending time with the dogs and cats to help the animals’ socialization skills. To meet Cooper and the other adoptable animals, or to find out about volunteer opportunities, visit co.currituck.nc.us/animal-services-control/adopt-pet, or contact the shelter at (252) 453-8682.
