Edenton welcomes all to come 'Home for the Holidays'

Enjoy a carriage ride during Edenton's candleight tours.

The holidays are in full swing in nearby Edenton, where a host of holiday events are on tap to help get residents and visitors in the mood for the season of merriment and joy.

  • On Nov. 29-30, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday highlight the historic town’s Thanksgiving gatherings with family and friends, and the Rocky Hock Opry’s Christmas Concert will take place both evenings at John A. Holmes High School Auditorium.
  • The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, Dec. 6 — followed by the Flotilla along Edenton Bay — will include a visit from Santa, and carols sung by Edenton’s elementary school children.
  • The Edenton Chowan Christmas Parade steps off 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, along North and South Broad streets.
  • The 38th annual Christmas Candlelight Tour Weekend, which is Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14, includes a peek inside private homes decorated for the season, historic buildings with traditional, fresh greenery, and delicious treats for all to enjoy. Tickets are $30 in advance, and $35 days-of, and are available by calling the Penelope Barker House Welcome Center at 252-482-7800 or online at ehcnc.org/events/Christmas.
