A garage here with two race cars and a fuel tank inside was destroyed by fire late Thursday.

The detached garage with a second story room on Penland Drive caught fire about 8 p.m. not far from the residence, said Keith Storf, assistant chief of the Crawford Township Volunteer Fire Department. A volunteer fireman who lived close by reported the fire and was on scene within minutes.

No one was injured, he said.

The fire was controlled in about 30 minutes. The cars and the garage were destroyed. The home was not damaged.
