A woman was found dead Thursday on a boat moored at Lamb’s Marina in Camden County.

Her husband is now charged with second-degree murder.

William Maxwell Hampton, 75, was being held Friday on a $2 million secured bond, according to a release from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.

The release said Hampton entered the marine just before 9 a.m. Thursday to tell an employee to call 911 because he had killed his wife. Carol Joan Hampton was later found unresponsive on the boat and pronounced dead.

Her injuries appeared to be from blunt force trauma, but official cause of death is pending an autopsy report, the release said.
