biker died

Biker died early Wednesday on U.S. 264 in Dare County.

A Wanchese man died Wednesday after the motorcycle he was driving crashed against the guardrail on U.S. 264.

Isaac Gibbs, 31, did not appear to be speeding when he lost control of his motorcycle heading east and struck the guardrail around 6 a.m. about three miles west of Stumpy Point, said Trooper Nick Harrison of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

There were no witnesses, and there was no indication of another vehicle involved or any obstructions on the highway, Gibbs said. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor. The area is wooded and home to deer and bears, but there was no evidence he struck an animal. An animal could have crossed in front of him.
